Praising on Sundays: Apostolic Instruction

Gospel: Mark 6:7-13

Jesus called the Twelve to him and began to send them out two by two, giving them authority over evil spirits. And he ordered them to take nothing for the journey except a staff; no food, no bag, no money in their belts. They were to wear sandals and were not to take an extra tunic.

And he added, “In whatever house you are welcomed, stay there until you leave the place. If any place doesn’t receive you and the people refuse to listen to you, leave after shaking the dust off your feet. It will be a testimony against them.”

So they set out to proclaim that this was the time to repent. They drove out many demons and healed many sick people by anointing them.

Dolphy's Famous Quotes

For the past few days now, I have been wanting to write something about our most beloved Comedy King, Dolphy.  I just couldn't gather my thoughts of what I really wanted to convey, afraid that my words might not do proper justice for what really a person he was.  For sure, he was the kindest being that everyone knows.  Today, I stumbled upon an article   from The Philippine Star which culled quotes from Dolphy from their many interviews.  

• “Zsa Zsa Padilla is the last woman in my life.”(Feb. 2, 1997)

I confess, I am a frustrated photographer.  I've been trying to learn ways and tricks to create excellent shots. I just wish I know how to photoshop and edit pictures also.  Even with how unexperienced I am, I was very excited when one of the topics for our weekly MEME at BC Bloggers is a photo blog.  I thought it would be one way of showing one of my novice shots.  So any criticism, feedback, reactions or comments would be positively taken. Better yet, tell me your own interpretation of my picture below.

A PicStory: Two Rascals In My Cabinet

I was starting to arrange our clothes in the cabinet when these two rascals joined me, but decided to have their own dose of fun. As much as I was trying to finish my chores immediately, how can I resist my two boys if they also want a time from mommy and their own space in the cabinet? ♥

At the end of it, this is what became of them. :-)

BC Bloggers MEME: Count Your Blessings

Let me start by rewinding some important scenarios that's dated back about three weeks ago.  This is relevant to the blessings I have received last week so please bear with the long intro.

The start of the month of June had been a tough one for me.  For the main reason that it's the start of classes and I have two who are schooling already, Troy and Tracy - my dancesport kids and both of them are in a private school.  I was already battling with the idea that I put them in a public school just for the year.  But it dawned on me that we, the kids are working on their scholarship this year, so hoping that their school would finally acknowledge their sport.  So no use of giving up on something that the kids worked so hard for the last six years.  To make the long story short, I was able to enroll them just in the nick of time which was ON the first day of classes.  Enrollment's done.  Next on the list are their school requirements, school uniforms and books..  Books which costs 4,000-5,000 each student.

Troy is in Grade 9 and he needs eight books.  He's the kind who befriends everybody, whether you're a Grade 1 student or the Principal of the school.   Maybe it's because of the confidence he gains from his sport.   I was very happy when he announced early last week that a friend, a Grade 10 student now, was willing to sell her old books for lesser the original price since it's already used but not worn out. And we only had to pay 1,000 pesos for five books already which originally costs 2,477 pesos. She is such a blessing.  So now,  only have three books to think of for Troy.

More or less, the same thing happened for Tracy.  She needs nine books in all.  Good thing that five of these are old books so that means we can buy it from an eighth grader.  Troy's previous ones are either lost or  worn out.  Tracy is the studious type of student.  That's what make her earn a spot in the honor roll every grading period.   Last year, she made me proud even more ( since I always am anyway ) when she was in top 3 even with incomplete books.  This year, I promised to provide her with all the books she needs.  With our financial situation, that's bit of a problem for me.  But God intervened and sent two angels to help.  As we had wished, Tracy found a former seventh grader who was willing to sell her books for only 100 pesos each for the three books which supposedly costs a total of 1,600 pesos for the three books.  The second angel came in the form of my sister who was willing to shoulder the rest of the books for Tracy.

Then, the most awaited came.  I mentioned about the scholarship that the kids have been waiting for the school to give them in acknowledgement for Dancesport to be part of the school's varsity sports.  Last year, I have personally asked the school principal of the possibilities or requirements needed..or anything at all just for us to apply for a sports scholarship.  One reason it wasn't possible at that time, they said, was because there's no one who can stand as their coach to represent my kids or Dancesport for that matter.  God is good.  He sees the heart of the poor.  One P.E. teacher, at the school has a husband for a Dancesport trainer who happens to be one of Troy and Tracy's dance teacher also, decided to coach the Dancesport Varsity Team starting this school year.  Well, the scholarship's in the works yet but I know we're positively seeing the light specially for my Troy and Tracy.

I have narrated three major blessings from last week to the supposedly five blessings (at least) that's being asked for this weeks MEME topic sponsored by Daddy Yashiro's Journal. So, if I were to share a blessing each day for the last seven days then one page wouldn't be enough.  I admit, I still do tend to worry a lot.  Opposite to my husband who is the positive one.  He is one of my ultimate blessing along with  my adorable children.  And I thought, everyday is a blessing.  From the people and families around me who at unexpected times jump in to extend a helping hand.  From the air we breath. To the sunrise that warms our skin. To the evening moonlight that shines our path.  To the water that quench our thirst.  I have learned to be thankful to every blessing that God has given, great and small.

Who's To Be Blamed for Our Floods?

Earlier today, this was how the streets of Metro Manila looked like..

For everyone's knowledge, the Department of Education is no longer tasked to declare suspensions of classes during typhoons and other calamities.  It is up to the LGUs (local government officials) to make such announcements as they are in a "better position to assess" the local situation.


Today, several schools have suspended their classes, some upon the order of the local government, due to the heavy downpour that flooded several parts of Metro Manila and other nearby provinces.  But for some schools in other cities were still having a hard time deciding to suspend classes or not.  That's why many were left stranded in the flood and got stuck in traffic when it was declared that the students are to go home.


At the end of the day, people start pointing fingers. To the DepEd since it's supposedly their main job to announce these kind of alarms? To the LGU for slow decision makings? or the common people who keeps on dumping garbage anywhere causing clogs on sewers and drainage.  We all contributed to these natural mayhem. Let this be a wake up call to everybody before the worse can cause severe damage to our country and to our fellowmen.
