Troy and Tracy became part of Dancesport Team Cebu City at the tender ages of 8 and 6 respectively. Troy has always been the athletic one. Actually, before he was part of dancesport, he had gained brown belt level in karate do in JKA. But when they started dancing as partners there was no stopping them. From then on, they had competed in local, regional and national competitions. Some they won some they didn't. As always, they live by the saying that practice makes perfect. But it isn't always easy when you work with a partner, much less siblings. Teamwork is very important in their field and I always emphasize to them that even in school and at home, aside from their sports, communication is essential to express their thought, ideas and feelings. For the past six years, I've seen them argue, shout at each other and push to their physical limits when they train just to achieve perfection. Nevertheless, their bond as sister and brother had become more stronger and that alone makes me happy.
Just recently, they bagged silver medals for Junior A Latin and Standard Discipline in the Philippine National Games for DanceSport held in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental.
My heart warms every time they dance because I'm just mighty proud of them. Sometimes it sends shivers to my spine thinking that they were formed from my very genes. And all the time it makes me thank the Lord for being blessed with such wonderful children. :-)

Eight years ago, there were only three eclectic dancing couples who started it all. DanceSport was born out of these people's love for dancing. Despite of the scarcity of resources, these teams competed and were able to catch a medal or two in the national competitions. To date, DanceSport Team Cebu has now more than 130 members who allocates precious hours to train and teach for free to benefit thousands of children in workshop outreach programs in the provinces of Cebu City. That's what DanceSport's about, being able to share their talents unselfishly. For the past four years, I've seen my very own children do this in the baranggays that they were assigned to every summer without fail. Tirelessly and patiently, they teach the basic steps progressing to creating the routines for their wards. Then culminating day comes, the glow on my kids faces, as they look at their students dance to jive, rumba and cha-cha, is reward enough for the price of sharing their own passion for dancing.
The DanceSport members' sense of dedication ignites their passion to strive more for perfection that they excel in national and international competitions. For the last eight years, Team Cebu City has proudly garnered at least 308 golds, 222 silvers and 187 bronze medals. Just recently, in the Philippine National Games in Dumaguete Negros Oriental, they bagged 21 golds, 15 silvers and 14 bronzes.
OMG! My last entry was still April 13? Not good at all..tsk! tsk! tsk! I know I have so many catching ups to do if I'd like to maintain this blog. I've actually got a list of topics and ideas that I should have made or wanted to write about but a lot of things happened during the month of May that further delayed me in writing so. It's supposedly my birth month so I was awfully excited to what I could have written about on my special day. A dinner and a trip to the movies (The Avengers was showing that time) would have been fine but the turn of events wasn't exactly what I expected. My Zef got hospitalized for some rashes he got. It was only a minor deal as it turned out but I had to be extra careful since dengue outbreak occurs specially during summer. Oh well, my family was still able to watch The Avengers on my birthday without me. Hu-hum! Then there's this culminating activity at USC-South Campus that my dancesport kids were invited to perform their piece. Not to mention all the training preparation they had during the whole summer for the Philippine National Games in Dumaguete. And of course we had to have the costumes sewn in all perfection so that Tracy would like to dance in it ( it's about feeling and dancing together with the costume that she rambles on...) and getting the right fit of tuxedo that Troy will wear for the Waltz so that his frame will not be compromised. Being a stage mom has made me rise up to my own expectations. I've become a costume/shoe designer & accessory maker with the aid of my sister, Michela, who really has the real knacks for designing. But most of all, I've learned to stretch my patience to infinity to be able to understand each of my kids characters and to make me a better mom to them. :-)
